Anakeran aka Naka for DeNovember

This is my fantasy-xchange assignment for the September "sketch" round. :)

I used to draw like this a long time ago. It was fun to try my old comic style again! :D

Okay, this might be too late of a critique. But, anyway!

Colours: Nice combination of colours! The piece is almost (felt like) monochromatic. I love how you put bits of other colours here and there to emphasize the impact of the piece as a whole as well as giving contrast to the overall look. I also love the subtle transition of shading for the "moon". It felt like it was not but it was there gradually and it's a nice subtle touch.

Art Style: Overall, I really love the art style. Nor it felt old nor it is new. But more like a little bit of both and some other thing mixed in between. But I do hope you play a little bit more on the outlining of the human(oid). The dynamic of the strokes so to say. But it's so minor!

Theme: Surreal. Again, it seems real on each of their own (Moon, carved pillar statue, human(oid)). But as an entirety? You cannot say that's a scenery that I would accidentally stumble upon in reality (Dual moon, and a human(oid) sitting at the end of a carved pillar statue). Actually it did not seem weird. That was not my point but it is more "there" and it is plausible because you made it plausible in your own way. And again the subtlety of it all makes me as the audience taking it slowly, to then encapture it as a whole, a solid piece of reality you created yourself.

Ambience and Impact: Permeates the feel of loneliness and singularity in a solitary situation. It also gives the vibe of alienation. Oddly enough, it gives you a sense of tranquility with a dull resonance.
It's a piece where you end up enjoy and ponder upon as you taking it in. And the subtle details and transition make it hard for you to take it at face value. Like there's more to it to ponder. Life, foreign situation, odd times and values. So many metaphor I can see hidden within the human(oid) appearance. Like how human he looks but there is a subtle hints (or not so subtle hints) that he is not. It can relate to the feeling of alienation (as mentioned above), of being different (in this case the title says the obvious reason) and not being able to do thing that others do or being perceived the same as others. And of course he will feel lonely having to go through the odd cycle in which he reached the degree of not feeling the same or simply being different.

The list can go on and on. But we better off end it up here. As I do not want to invade your brain with my nonsencial thoughts and ramblings. Or worse someone might think I am delusional. But those above were what I thought of this piece of beauty. The thing could easily added to anyone's archive!

Thank you for making this beautiful artwork! Keep up the good work!

P.S.: Sorry, I did not proofread much.

Love,
