Canadian Christmas

This is my entry for the Art-Canada Holiday Contest. Thank you for extending the deadline!

My choice of holiday is obviously Christmas. And the Canadian symbol is the moose!

For me, Christmas is the time when the grownups can be children again. It's the time to celebrate with friends and family, eat good food and candies (chocolate, chocolate and even more chocolate). I like to see streets and homes brighten by christmas lights. Even though I leave alone, I make my Christmas tree every year. It's a 6' piece of art in my living room with a huge Christmas village. It's like being allowed to play again with toys! Hehe!

Canadian Christmas is all about family and friends. We can cross the country to visit relatives. We pack our house full of people, cook all the traditionnal canadian meals, turkey, meat pie, ragoût de boulettes (meatballs stew?), home made doghnuts, log-shaped cake, fruit cake (yes, we have a sweet tooth from generations). It's the season of the Christmas cards (those you send by traditional mail, with an enveloppe and a stamp, you know?), and giftwrapped wine bottles, and long distance calls to friends. Christmas is all about love, friendship and reunion.

About the moose, I've seen one once and it's pretty impressive. A moose is magneficient, big, solid like our country. It can survive the harsh winter, like us, brave Canadians! :canada: And my fluffy friend is very cudly when it's cold outside.
